DES MOINES, Iowa--Drake has landed six players on Phil Steele's 2011 Preseason All-Pioneer Football League Teams, announced in Steele's FCS College Football Preview magazine, out today.
First-team selections include tackle Evan Lawrence (Moline, Ill./Moline) and linebacker Tyler Moorehead (Mason City, Iowa/Newman Catholic).
Lawrence started all 11 games in 2010 and earned first-team All-PFL honors, as did Moorehead, who led the team in tackles with 62 (51 solo), including 1.5 sacks.
Earning second-team preseason All-PFL nods from Steele's College Football Preview were wide receiver Drew Blackmon (Florissant, Mo./St. Louis University High), guard Stephen Flynn (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf), defensive lineman John Sawhill (Jefferson, Iowa/Jefferson-Scranton) and cornerback/return specialist Michael Lahart (Chariton, Iowa/Chariton) as a punt returner.
Flynn, a 10-game starter in 2010, earned second-team All-PFL honors a year ago, while Blackmon, Sawhill and Lahart were honorable mention selections.
