What's Ahead: The Drake men's track and field squad will split up this weekend to partake in two meets.  Some will stay on the campus of Drake University to compete in the 103rd running of the Drake Relays April 25-28, while others will travel to Indianola, Iowa to take part in the Kip Janvrin Open on April 26 and 27.

Following The Meet: Live results of the 103rd running of the Drake Relays can be found here.  Updates on Twitter will be provided by the DUBulldogs account and a live blog about all of the events will be available on GoDrakeBulldogs.com. The Kip Janvrin Open can be followed by using the Simpson College website.

Last Time Out: Sophomore Omet Kak (Des Moines, Iowa) ran a thenconference-best time of 3:46.90 in the men's 1500 to lead the Drake men's track team at the Musco Twilight on Saturday, April 21.

Kak finished second in the race, while junior Charlie Lapham  (Golden Valley, Minn.) snared third place. Lapham clocked in at 3:48.10, while senior Matt Jurysta (Oshawa, Ontario) claimed 10th in 3:52.67.

The throwers also enjoyed success as junior Kevin Harp (Iowa City, Iowa) won the men's javelin title in his hometown, while fellow junior Isaac Twombly (Baldwin, Kan.) broke his school record in the hammer throw.

Harp's throw of 201 feet 9 inches narrowly beat out sophomore teammate Phillip Beeler (Lenexa, Kan.) who claimed second with a heave of 201 feet 4 inches.

Twombly has now broken his school record twice times in as many weeks, as his throw of 180 feet 1 inch in the hammer throw broke his old record of 173 feet 3 inches. Teammate Andy Curtis (Manchester, Iowa) also set a personal best in the hammer with a toss of 168 feet.

Senior Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.) was third in the 400-meter hurdles finishing in 52.17, while sophomore Travis Marsh (Ankeny, Iowa) was seventh in 53.65.

Senior Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) was fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.95) and seventh in the 100 (10.94).
