CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Drake University softball team had four student-athletes earn Missouri Valley Conference honors Wednesday night at the MVC pre-tournament banquet.

Senior Torey Craddock (Tucson, Ariz.) along with sophomores Jordan Gronewold (Carlisle, Iowa) and Amy Pierce (Olathe, Kan.) were selected to the all-MVC first-team. Freshman Hayley Nybo (Minnetonka, Minn.) was selected to the all-MVC second team.

"Team success usually involves certain individuals on the team having pretty good years," Drake head coach Rich Calvert said. "I'm very proud of what these four have accomplished this conference season."

Craddock has started in 213 out of 214 games in her four seasons and has not missed a start in the past three seasons. She was selected to the all-MVC second team in 2011 and this season she is hitting .274 with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 28 runs scored. She is second on the team in both home runs and RBI.

Gronewold is 19-18 with a 2.79 ERA this season on the mound and is in the top 10 of nearly every MVC pitching statistical category. The right-hander leads the Valley in innings pitched (228.1), starts (46) and appearances (48). She is third in wins (19) and strikeouts (194), eighth in ERA (2.79) and eighth in opponent batting average (.242).

Pierce is hitting .286 this season with 12 doubles, one home run, 25 RBI and 30 runs scored. The speedy shortstop leads the MVC with 24 stolen bases and has only been caught-stealing three times. Her four triples this season are tied for the most in the Valley.

Nybo is having an outstanding first season as a Bulldog. The third baseman is hitting .333 with nine home runs, 13 doubles, 42 RBI, 54 hits, 94 total bases and a .580 slugging percentage. She leads the team in all seven categories. Nybo is ninth in the MVC in average, tied for third in home runs, fourth in RBI and slugging percentage and second in doubles. Her 42 RBI are a new freshman record at Drake.

Drake (28-27, 17-10 MVC) is the No. 3 seed for the MVC tournament and will play the winner of No. 6 Missouri State and No. 7 Bradley Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.
