ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drake men's soccer redshirt sophomore Alec Bartlett (Overland Park, Kan./St. James Academy) was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period of Sept. 30 - Oct. 6, the league announced on Monday (Oct. 7).
Bartlett was recognized with the weekly MVC honor for the first time in his Bulldog career.
Bartlett helped the Bulldogs extend their winning streak to four and unbeaten run to six this past week as Drake garnered its fourth consecutive shutout with a 1-0 victory at Western Illinois last Tuesday (Oct. 1) before turning in a dominating 4-1 triumph at Evansville on Saturday (Oct. 5).
Bartlett led the Bulldogs' defensive charge against the Leathernecks helping hold their leading scorer to only three shots.
After surrendering its first goal in more than 400 minutes, Drake and Bartlett locked down defensively and kept Evansville off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest.

On the season, Bartlett has recorded four shots, including a pair on goal.
The Bulldogs (5-3-2) visit Wisconsin on Tuesday (Oct. 8) before opening their home conference slate against Missouri State on Saturday (Oct. 12) at the Cownie Soccer Complex. Both games are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
