SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Drake women's golf team concluded its efforts at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational hosted by South Dakota State firing a 321 total over the final 18 holes on Tuesday (Sept. 24) to earn a fifth-place effort with a 54-hole scorecard of 978 (333-324-321).
Senior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) carded a final-round 76 to notch a ninth-place showing with a three-round total of 239 (82-81-76).
“I'm proud of the way we hung in there, each of them had a few big holes, but they battled back,” commented Drake head coach Leanne Smith. “We are obviously disappointed with our finish, but we'll hopefully pin point what we need to work on in the next few days to get ready to compete again at UMKC. Congrats to Hadley (Jennings) on another top-10 finish.”
After back-to-back rounds in the 80's over the tournament's initial 36 holes, redshirt sophomore Kimmy Askelson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) posted her second-lowest score (78) of the year to finish tied for 15th with a mark of 243 (83-82-78).
Junior Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) wrapped up her efforts (81-79-85=245) tied for 17th place.
Rounding out the Bulldogs' performances were freshman Sarah Browning (Midhurst, Ontario) and junior Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.). The duo collected 54-holes scores of 251 (87-82-82) and 259 (88-86-85) to finish in 29th- and 39th-place, respectively.
Drake returns to the links on Monday (Sept. 30) opening up the 54-hole UMKC Fall Invitational in Kansas City, Mo.
