TULSA, Okla. – Junior Ravi Patel (London, England) led the efforts for the Drake men's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championship on Saturday (Sept. 28) with a pre-qualifying singles victory.
Patel and junior Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England) were the lone Bulldogs in action on the tournament's opening day, as junior Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) received a first-round bye.
Patel dispatched Juan Moreiras of Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-1, while Indiana's Sven Lalic dealt Mullis a 6-2, 6-4 setback.
Patel advances to face third-seeded Srikar Alla of Rice on Sunday (Sept. 29), while Frost battles Diego Acosta from Purdue.
Competition at the ITA All-America Championships resumes on Sunday (Sept. 29) beginning at 9:00 a.m.
