SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Senior Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) shot a final-round 77 to lead the Drake women's golf team to an 13th-place showing at the Payne Stewart Memorial hosted by Missouri State on Tuesday (Oct. 14) with a cumulative team score of 956 (314-311-326).
Freshman Madison Glennie (Clearwater, Fla.) carded a 79 over the tournament's final 18 holes to garner a tie for 25th place with a team-low 230 (79-72-79) scorecard.
“Madison (Glennie) turned in another good tournament and remains consistent in her play,” Drake head coach Leanne Smith commented. “I'm glad Danielle (Brooks) bounced back with a good round to close out the tournament. As a team, we can't take big scores and be competitive, as we need to find a way to be more consistent round to round. We now have a few weeks to work on getting better and showcasing those efforts in our final tournament of the fall.”
Sophomore Sarah Browning (Midhurst, Ontario), freshman Brooke Miller (Pomona, Calif.) and junior Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) rounded out the Bulldogs' efforts with 54-hole marks of 241 (79-80-82), 246 (80-78-88) and 255 (79-87-89), respectively. Brooks concluded her tournament with a 242 (76-89-77) total.
Drake returns to competition in its final tournament of the fall Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., for Pat Bradley Invitational hosted by Florida International.
