Six Bulldogs Earn Women?s Soccer All-MVC Honors

NORMAL, Ill. - Six Drake University women's soccer student-athletes earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, the league announced Thursday (Nov. 6) evening during the MVC Tournament Awards Reception in Normal, Ill.

Senior midfielder Ashlie Stokes (Sioux City, Iowa) and sophomore forward Rebecca Rodgers (Peotone, Ill.) earned first-team All-MVC honors while defender Kylie DeHaven (Olathe, Kan.) and midfielder Rhian Pritchard (Overland Park, Kan.) were named to the second team. Defender Kasey Hurt (Ankeny, Iowa) and goalkeeper Kylynn Moyer (Omaha, Neb.) earned MVC All-Freshman accolades.

Rodgers honor is the second of her career after earning a spot on the second team as a freshman in 2013. As a sophomore, she leads Drake in goals (12), assists (8) and game-winning scores (4). The reigning MVC Player of the Week, she scored three goals and assist at Indiana State on Oct. 30 for just the second hat trick in program history. She ranks second in the MVC in scoring (32 points), third in goals and second in assists. Her six goals in conference play are a league-high. Her 32 points are a program record and her 12 goals are tied for the most in a season at Drake.

Stokes collected first-team All-MVC honors by posting 12 points on the season with four goals and four assists on 47 shots, the second most on the squad. She recorded two game-winning scores including a pair of goals in the Bulldogs' 3-2 win over Loyola on Nov. 2 to advance to the semifinals of the MVC Tournament. Four of her five shots in that contest were on goal. For her career, she has 16 goals, the seventh most in program history and her 170 shots are the third most.

DeHaven, a junior, started all 18 games she appeared in and had three assists and nine shots from the backline. Of her nine shots, five were on goal. Thanks to her defensive efforts, the Bulldogs recorded five shutouts and 13 one-goal games this season. Pritchard made 19 starts and was fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and four assists in her junior season.

For the second straight season, the Bulldogs had two players earn All-Freshman Team honors. Hurt was tied for second on the team in assists with four helpers in her first season to rank sixth in the MVC in assists per game. Moyer started 17 games in net for Drake and made 103 saves to successfully stop 81 percent of the shots she faced to earn an 8-7-2 record with four shutouts. She ranked second in the MVC in saves per game (6.06) and save percentage (.811). Against Missouri State on Oct. 18, she equaled a school record with 14 saves and she has recorded five or more saves in 13 of her 17 games.

Drake's four all-conference honorees return to action on Friday, Nov. 7 with a 3:30 p.m. tilt against Evansville in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament.
