ST. LOUIS – Drake University women's basketball sophomore Caitlin Ingle (Runnells, Iowa) has been selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Tuesday, Dec. 23. Ingle was honored for her performance during the period of December 15-21.
Ingle capped last week with her fourth career points/assists double-double with 17 points and 10 assists in a thriller versus No. 23/24 Iowa. She added four rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes. Earlier in the week, she had four points, four rebounds and seven assists in a big win over Northwestern College.
A secondary education and English major, Ingle owns a 3.66 cumulative grade point average. She earned the 2013-14 MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and was named to the 2013-14 MVC Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify for MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
Drake opens conference play on the road, as the Bulldogs will visit Loyola on Jan. 2.
