Salibasic Honored As Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team Selection

DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake junior men's tennis player Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) has been selected as a second-team honoree to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Salibasic is the first Drake men's tennis student-athlete to collect national honors as selected by CoSIDA. He joins Enrique Garcilazo, who was chosen by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for recognition during the 1997-98 campaign, as the only academic All-America recipients in program history.

Maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in international business, Salibasic recorded a 39-23 combined singles/double mark this season, including a 17-8 record in singles play during the spring campaign en route to being named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.  Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form.
