STILLWATER, Okla. – Maddie Johnson's run at the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championship for the Drake women's tennis team came to an end on Sunday after a loss to Wichita State's Giulia Guidetti in the finals of the back draw.

Johnson began the day by beating South Dakota's Ellie Burns 6-1, 6-4, in the semifinals.  Johnson then closed out the tournament with a tough 6-4, 6-0 loss to Guidetti.

Guidetti earned her spot in the finals by defeating Adrienne Jensen, 6-0, 6-1.

Summer Brills beat Tulsa's Martha Medoula, 6-2, 1-6, 11-9, while Tess Herder defeated Tulsa's Ksenia Laskutova, 7-5, 6-3, in a pair of round robin matches.

The Bulldogs will close out the fall season by hosting the Drake Jamboree on Friday through Sunday.
