ST. LOUIS – Junior Darrin MacLeod (Waterloo, Ontario) of the Drake University men's soccer team has been selected as one of 10 student-athletes to receive the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor award for the 2015 fall season, the conference office announced Thursday, Oct. 29.

MacLeod, a goalkeeper, has started all 14 matches this season for Drake. He has recorded four shutouts with 52 saves and has played every minute between the posts for the Bulldogs.

MacLeod holds a 3.49 grade point average in health sciences with a minor in psychology. He has twice been named to the Dean's List as well as being named to the Presidential List in the spring of 2014. MacLeod stays active volunteering in the Des Moines community serving as an intern at Courage League Sports - a non-profit recreational center that works with kids with disabilities - as well as working with DSMove and the West Des Moines Soccer Club.

Along with MacLeod the following student-athletes in the MVC were named State Farm MVC Good Neighbor winners by Commissioner Doug Elgin this fall: Andrew Kovacevic, Bradley, Men's Soccer; Allie Arguello, Evansville, Women's Soccer; Sara Stankoskey, Illinois State, Women's Soccer; BreeAnn Spangler, Indiana State, Volleyball; Tim Dobrowolski, Loyola, Men's Soccer; Tenaly Smith, Missouri State, Women's Cross Country; Jordan Webb, Northern Iowa, Football; Taylor Pippen, Southern Illinois, Volleyball; Kayla Deighan, Wichita State, Women's Cross Country.

In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley recognizes 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees. Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor honorees.
