The Game
• The Drake University men's basketball team begins Missouri Valley Conference Tournament action on Thursday evening when the seventh-seeded Bulldogs face the No. 10 seed, Bradley. The winner advances to face No. 2 seed, UNI, on Friday evening.
• Thursday's game is the fourth time in the last five seasons that the two teams have met in the opening round of the MVC Tournament.
• Drake swept the season series with the Braves by virtue of a 69-57 win in Peoria and a 60-54 victory on Feb. 11 in Des Moines.
• Drake travels to St. Louis led by a pair of MVC honorees in senior Gary Ricks, Jr., and freshman Reed Timmer. Ricks was named honorable mention All-MVC while Timmer earned a spot on the All-Freshman and All-Newcomer teams.
• Timmer has led the Bulldogs in the last 10 games with 156 points during that span following a career-high 25 points in the season finale at SIU. He has shot 49.5 percent from the field in those 10 games and 55.6 percent from the three-point arc. He is one of just 15 freshmen in the nation averaging at least 11.0 points and 2.5 assists per game this season.
• Drake's four active freshmen account for 33.4 percent of the Bulldogs' scoring.
• Drake's primary point guards, Karl Madison and Reed Timmer, have a 76-33 assist-to-turnover ratio in the last 14 games. Madison boasts a 45-to-15 ratio during that span.
