Men's Tennis Rises to 24th in ITA Rankings

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's tennis team continues to rise in the ITA rankings as the Bulldogs are ranked 24th in this week's poll.

The Bulldogs hovered around the top-40 for the first two months of the season and jumped into the top 30 last week at 29th. Drake's move to 24th is the Bulldogs first appearance in the top 25 since 2013 when Drake earned its highest ranking in school history at 16th.

This year's team is aiming for another NCAA tournament appearance and has a schedule that is preparing them to make some noise in the tournament. The Bulldogs are 6-2 against ranked opponents with the two losses come from No. 5 Baylor and No. 42 Denver. Drake will play two more ranked teams this weekend. Drake will face off with No. 54 Washington on Saturday (March 7) in Minneapolis and against No. 34 Minnesota on Sunday (March 8).

The Bulldog lineup is strong from top to bottom and includes two of the top 55 singles players in the country, junior Ben Lott (Newcastle, England), who is ranked 34th and senior Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina), who ranks 55th.
