ST. LOUIS – The Drake men's soccer team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer preseason coaches poll, the league office announced Thursday morning. The coaches have tabbed SIUE to win the conference.
Drake head coach Sean Holmes has 15 letterwinners, including 10 starters, from last season returning in 2015. Three of those returning starters are senior defender Alec Bartlett (Overland Park, Kan.), junior midfielders Mueng Sunday (Coralville, Iowa) and James Wypych (Wellington, New Zealand), who were each named to the 2015 preseason all-conference team. In 2014, Bartlett was selected to the all-MVC first team while Sunday earned honorable mention all-MVC honors.
The Bulldogs travel to Wisconsin for an 11 a.m. exhibition against the Badgers on Saturday, Aug. 22 as they close their preseason. Drake hosts Pacific to start the regular season on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at Cownie Soccer Complex.
