DES MOINES, Iowa - Led by 17 kills from junior Kyla Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa), the Drake University volleyball team defeated Bradley, 3-1, on Friday, Nov. 11, at the Knapp Center.
"I'm very excited about tonight's win," said Drake head coach Darrin McBroom. "It was crucial for us to continue to be in the hunt for the conference tournament. We didn't play well out of the gate tonight, but I'm proud of the way we played in sets three and four."
Inderski's 17 kills came on 46 attempts while adding 15 digs for her 14th double-double of the season. She also moved up the career record lists at Drake, surpassing 1,000 career digs while moving up to 998 career kills.
"She worked through the first two sets to get her game in rhythm and finished well. Both our middles played well and Nicole Woods, who usually doesn't serve for us, did an outstanding job serving tonight."
Kameo Pope (Belle Plaine, Iowa) made the most of her swings, hitting .750 on her eight attempts while Chandelle Davidson (Gretna, Neb.) led in assists with 29.
Drake (15-14, 6-9 MVC) claimed the win with set scores of 26-24, 18-25, 25-18, and 25-15.
Bradley (7-21, 2-14 MVC) was paced by 17 kills from Kelsey Cave while Erica Haslag had 12 kills.
The Bulldogs hope to take the momentum from Friday's win into Saturday's match against Loyola. The contest has significant postseason implications for both teams as Loyola sits half a game above the Bulldogs in the race for the final spot in the MVC Tournament. The match starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast via The Valley on ESPN3.
