DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake University football team will make its first of two trips to Florida during November on Saturday as the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville University.
Saturday's contest will be the 16th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Dolphins. Drake leads the all-time series, 12-3, and has won four of the last five meetings with the Bulldogs earning a comeback victory last year. The Bulldogs enter Saturday's game with a 4-4 record and are 3-2 in PFL play after beating Campbell last week, 33-21. The Dolphins are on a two-game winning streak and are coming off a 35-17 win over Davidson. Jacksonville are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the PFL.
Senior running back
Conley Wilkins is one of the best in the PFL. He ranks second in the PFL with 1,053 all purpose yards and third with 586 yards rushing. Wilkins has found the end zone seven times this season and has scored at least one touchdown in seven of his last ten games, dating back to last season. Eric Saubert is leading the Bulldogs in receiving. This season, he has racked up 475 receiving yards on 41 receptions and five touchdowns. Last year, he caught 55 passes for 580 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Defensively, fifth-year senior
Taylor Coleman leads the Bulldogs and ranks six in PFL with 8.5 tackles per game. He recorded a season-high 16 tackles in Drake's setback at Dayton on Oct. 1.
First year head coach Ian Shields has the Dolphins running a spread option offense. Jacksonville is averaging 224.7 yards rushing per game and has four players with over 200 rushing yards. The quartet is led by senior running back Ulysses Bryant, who has rushed for 371 yards with two touchdowns, while junior quarterback Rylan Wells has recorded 264 yards rushing and a team-best five rushing touchdowns. Wells has also thrown for over 1,100 yards and tallied nine touchdowns. The Dolphin defense is led by senior linebacker Grady Redding, who has registered 68 tackles (39 solo), including 3.5 tackles for a loss.
