GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Drake University women's basketball team dropped a road contest at Green Bay, 71-48, Saturday, Dec. 3 afternoon at the Kress Center.
Drake (3-3) was led by sophomore
Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) and senior
Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) with 12 points each. Bachrodt made a career-high four three-pointers and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Senior
Caitlin Ingle (Runnells, Iowa) handed out seven assists and is now second all-time at Drake in career assists with 579. Freshman
Brenni Rose (Shawnee, Kan.) scored a career-high eight points.
Green Bay (6-1) had three players finish in double-figures led by redshirt senior Mehryn Kraker's game-high 23 points. The Phoenix, who are picked to win the Horizon League for the ninth-consecutive season, have lost just once this season back on Nov. 17 at No. 1 Notre Dame, 71-67.
Bachrodt made a deep three-pointer from the right wing for the Bulldogs first points of the game just over 4:30 in as they missed their first seven shots. Green Bay led 20-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended its advantage to 36-22 after a three-pointer at the buzzer by Frankie Wurtz. Bachrodt paced the Bulldogs with nine points in the first two quarters of play.
Drake struggled to shoot the basketball at just 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the floor. The Bulldogs made 9-of-37 (24.3 percent) from the three-point line. Drake battled turnover problems with 21 in the game. Green Bay dominated in the paint with a 36-12 advantage. The Phoenix led by as many 32 points on their way to the win.
Drake continues its road trip Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Nebraska with tipoff set for 7 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
