DENVER, Colo. – The 69
th-ranked Denver Pioneer bested the Drake University women's tennis team, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers swept all three doubles match to take a 1-0 lead.
Denver took a 3-0 lead with a wins at No. 6 and No. 2 singles. Freshman
Joely Lomas managed to take the first set 6-4, but Denver's Charlotte Derbyshire rebounded to win the final two sets 6-0, 6-0 to secure the match for the Pioneers.
The final three singles matches went unfinished with
Mariel Ante taking 62
nd-ranked Julia O'Loughin to three sets and
Maddie Johnson also going into a third set.
The Bulldogs returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 21 when they travel to Kansas State.
