DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team ended non-conference play on a high note, beating Saint Louis 4-2 on Thursday afternoon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

The doubles point came down to a tiebreaker and Summer Brills and Joely Lomas trailed 5-1 in the breaker but surged back to win 7-5, securing the doubles point for the Bulldogs.

The Billikens tied it up at one with a singles victory on court three, but Brills put Drake back on top with a dominating performance over Kelsey King, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot. After winning the first set 6-1, Lomas came back from being down a break to win the second set 7-5 at No. 5 to put Drake up 3-1. SLU's Natalia Yacaman overcame being down a set to defeat Mela Jaglarz, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. Senior Maddie Johnson then clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a three-set victory over Verginie Tchakarova, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The Bulldogs return to the road for the first time in over a month with a trip to Missouri State on Saturday and Wichita State on Sunday.
