LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Drake University men's basketball team plays its second-straight road game Saturday, Dec. 2, with an afternoon contest at Wyoming. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. CST at one of the nation's toughest venues, the Cowboys' Arena-Auditorium. The matchup is part of the annual Mountain West – Missouri Valley Challenge.
Saturday's venue, Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium, boasts the highest elevation of any Division I arena in the nation at 7,220 feet above sea level and the Cowboys boast an all-time winning percentage of .746 in the building and are 21-3 there over the past two seasons.
Drake makes the long trek with a 4-2 record to date this season after Wednesday's 75-73 loss at Omaha in which the Bulldogs were held to a season-low 73 points. On the season, the team has averaged 83.5 points per game, one of the top 60 averages in the nation this season.
Wyoming is 5-2 this season after suffering an 88-78 loss at Denver Wednesday evening. Both teams have been prolific from the three-point arc with each team averaging more than nine three-pointers per game. The Bulldogs are converting at a 43 percent clip, the 18
th highest mark in the nation this season.
Saturday's contest will be the fifth all-time meeting in the series, but the first since the 1988-89 season. Wyoming holds a 3-1 advantage in the series with all three of its wins coming in Laramie, Wyo.
Following Saturday's game, the Bulldogs back east of the Missouri River, albeit barely, for a Wednesday, Dec. 6, evening contest at South Dakota. Tipoff for the lastest installment in that series is set for 7 p.m. CST.
