Drake trailed SIU (10-11, 4-6 MVC) at halftime by a score of 35-31, but battled back to tie the game at 50-50 at the end of the third quarter. At the start of the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs seized control of the game with an 8-2 scoring run that started with a basket by sophomore Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) as they never trailed again to complete the comeback. Drake outscored SIU, 21-10, in the final quarter.

Bachrodt did a little bit of everything for Drake in the road win. She finished with six points, six rebounds, a career-tying six steals, four assists and one block. Freshman Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) missed double figures with nine points and added five rebounds. Redshirt sophomore Becca Jonas (Independence, Mo.) tallied seven points and eight rebounds. Ingle tied her career mark with nine field goals.

In a game that had 10 lead changes and five ties, the third quarter was back-and-forth, as the teams traded baskets. Six lead changes and two ties occurred in the period.

Drake claimed a 16-13 lead after one quarter behind tough defense that forced seven Salukis' turnovers and threes by junior Paige Greiner (Williamsburg, Iowa) and sophomore Nicole Miller (Walker, Iowa).

SIU came out in the second quarter and slowly chipped away before going on a 17-4 scoring run to lead 30-20 as Drake called timeout to slow the run. The timeout worked as the Bulldogs responded with a 7-1 run before SIU called its own timeout. The Salukis held off the charge by the Bulldogs with help from a buzzer-beater by Kristen Nelson to lead 35-31 at halftime.

Following Friday's game, Drake plays at Evansville on Sunday with tipoff set for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast online via The Valley on ESPN3 and on the radio on 1350 ESPN Des Moines.
