Women's Tennis Set to Host Iowa State and Omaha

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Drake University women's tennis team is set to host in state rivals, Iowa State and University of Nebraska at Omaha this weekend, Feb. 10 and 11, at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
The Bulldogs enter the competition with a 2-1 record a 4-3 wins against South Dakota and Augustana (S.D.) on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5, respectively. A strong performance in singles led to a wins for Drake. Joely Lomas earned Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honors for her performance in the two Bulldog wins.
 
Iowa State holds a 3-2 record after falling to the University of Iowa on Feb. 5, 4-0. This loss snapped the Cyclones' three-match winning streak. The Bulldogs are set to challenge the Cyclones on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m.
 
The Mavericks enter with a 2-2 record after a 7-0 win over Doane on Jan. 27 during their home opener. The team claimed two of the three doubles matches, their first doubles points of the season. Drake is set to play the Mavericks on Feb. 11 at 11 a.m.
 
Following this weekend's matches, the Bulldogs travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on Nebraska on Feb. 17.
