DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University's Bayo Philips was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 18.
 
Philips helped the Bulldogs claim their 10th MVC regular season championship in program history. Philips clinched the 4-3 win over Wichita State with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Miroslav Herzan at No. 3 singles. Barny Thorold and Philips earned a 6-3 victory over Jocelyn Devilliers and Eddie Stoica at No. 1 doubles to help Drake secure the doubles point.
 
Drake will be the top-seed at the MVC tournament which is set to get underway on April 28-30 in Normal, Ill.
