Kendricks and Morris Take Top Honors at Capital Square Vault

DES MOINES, Iowa – Sam Kendricks, the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist, and Sandi Morris, the 2016 Olympics silver medalist, won the second-annual Capital Square Vault presented by Catch Des Moines and the Des Moines Register in downtown Des Moines on Wednesday, April 26.
 
Kendricks was nearly perfect on the evening as he cleared the bar on his first attempt at the first four heights. He then cleared 18-8.25 on his second attempt to secure the win.

 
Morris, who won the inaugural Capital Square Vault last year, cleared 15-8.5 on her first attempt to win her second-straight title.
 
Scott Houston came in second on the men's side as he cleared 18-4.5 on his final attempt and missed all three attempts at 18-8.25.
 
Mary Saxer, marking her ninth Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee appearance, finished in second, vaulting 14-11.
