BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Drake University women's tennis suffered a 4-2 setback to Evansville in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament on Friday at Bloomington, Ill.
 
The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Tess Herder and Kenya Williams defeated Chieko Yamada and Theodora Soldatou 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Summer Brills and Joely Lomas secured the point with a tiebreaker victory at No. 2.
 
The Purples Aces went on to earn wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles respectively to take a 2-1 lead.
 
Lomas tied the match up at 2-2 with an impressive 6-1, 7-5 win over Nicoli Pereira at No. 3 singles.
 
\Daria Pentsova topped Kenya Williams, 6-2, 6-1 to give the Purple Aces a 3-2 advantage.
 
Evansville secured the 4-2 win with Diana Tkachenko's 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 2.
 
The Bulldogs end the 2017 campaign with a 10-11 overall record and will return all six starters next year.
