The Drake Univeristy men's basketball team meets long-time foe Iowa State Saturday, Dec. 15, at Wells Fargo Arena in the final edition of the Hy-Vee Classic. Tipoff between the Bulldogs and Cyclones is set for 3:30 p.m. followed by UNI versus Iowa at 6 p.m.
 
Drake enters the contest with a 6-1 record for its best start to a season since 2013-14 and the 13th time the Bulldogs have started a season 6-1 or better.
 
Saturday's game is the final of three-straight games away from the Knapp Center for the Bulldogs with the team winning the previous two as part of its five-game win streak.
 
Senior Nick McGlynn (Stoughton, Wis.) has led the Bulldogs in the last three games by averaging 20.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in that span including back-to-back 23-point games. McGlynn is the lone Bulldog who has faced the Cyclones in a Drake jersey. However, graduate transfer Brady Ellingson (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) has plenty of experience against Cyclones having faced them three times while at Iowa. Additionally, Nick Norton (Bloomington, Ill.) was a member of the 2015 UAB team that defeated Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Both the Bulldogs and Cyclones average more than 80 points per game with Marial Shayok's 20.0 points per game leading the way for Iowa State.
 
Saturday's game is the 175th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Cyclones with Iowa State currently enjoying a three-game win streak in the series.
 
Following the Hy-Vee Classic, the Bulldogs return to the Knapp Center for a pair of contests next week beginning with a Dec. 17 date against SIUE followed by a Dec. 19 game against Rider.
