Twenty-Three Student-Athletes to Graduate at Saturday's Commencement

Twenty-three student-athletes are set to graduate at Drake's 145th Commencement Ceremony

DES MOINES, Iowa - A total of 23 student-athletes from seven different sports will receive their diplomas at the 145th Drake University commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 16, in the Knapp Center.

The graduating class features 17 members of the football team, including Nathan Clayberg who has amassed three Academic All-PFL first team honors, two All-PFL first teams, and was the 2018 PFL Defensive Player of the Year. Also graduating is Kieran Severa, who joined Clayberg on the academic first team this season, and academic second team members Peter Read and Terry Wallen.

Six other sports will also be represented on Saturday, with a single student-athlete from each. Tasha Alexander, softball, and Tess Herder, women's tennis, both garnered All-MVC recognition last season. Rower Ryli Smith was named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, and women's soccer's Rebecca Rodgers was named the 2017 MVC Player of the Year. Men's tennis player Ben Wood, and soccer player Jake Taylor round out the Bulldogs' graduating class of student-athletes. Taylor was named to the 2017 All-MVC Scholar-Athlete first team and earned All-MVC Honorable Mention honors.
