DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's tennis team opened a busy weekend of action at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center with a 5-2 win over Utah State, Friday evening.
 
The Bulldogs clinched the match, 4-0, when Vinny Gillespie earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Earlier, Ben Clark won at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3 and Bayo Philips collected a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles.
 
The Bulldogs opened the match by securing the doubles point with Philips and Finley Hall combining at No. 3 doubles to break a 1-1 tie in the doubles standings.
 
Drake continues its homestand Saturday afternoon against Indiana at 5 p.m.
