SPRING, Texas - The Drake University men's golf team posted a 305 in the opening round of the Colin Montgomerie Invitational before the second round was cut short due to inclement weather. The Bulldogs were in a tie for ninth place following the first round.

The Bulldogs completed approximately 10 holes of the second round before storms forced in the area forced the cessation of play. The 15 teams in the field will attempt to complete second and third rounds in Tuesday morning at Augusta Pines.

Lucas Scherf and Chase Wicklund led the Bulldogs in the one completed round by recording 2-over-par 74s. Scherf carded a 34-40–74 while Wicklund had three birdies for a 38-36–74.Tommi Avant carded a 37-39–76 as one of the Bulldogs other top scorers in the opening round.

Kyle MacDonald finished the round at 9-over while Shayne Patel was 12-over par.

The team returns to the course Tuesday morning to complete the final two rounds of the event.
