SPRING, Texas - The Drake University men's golf team finished 14th at the weather-shortened Colin Montgomerie Invitational. Florida Gulf Coast won the tournament with a score of 578 (289-289).
Drake posted a 305 in the opening round Monday before the second round was cut short due to inclement weather. The Bulldogs completed approximately 10 holes at Augusta Pines before teams were pulled off the course. The teams returned to the course this morning but more inclement weather forced the tournament to end after 36 holes. Drake carded a 308 in the second round.
Lucas Scherf led the Bulldogs with a 36-hole score of 150 (74-76) and he finished T30.
Tommi Avant carded a 155 (76-79) to place next at T59.
Kyle MacDonald and
Shayne Patel each shaved six strokes off their first-round scores for final two-round scores of 156 (81-75) and 162 (74-83), respectively.
Chase Wicklund finished 71st with a score of 157 (74-83).
Drake travels to Springfield, Mo., March 11-12, for the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate.
