ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Drake University men's team defeated New Mexico, 4-1, Monday at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
Drake (14-8) claimed the doubles point over New Mexico (4-6) and then won three out of the first four singles matches in a hard-fought road match.
Vinny Gillespie (Stirling, Scotland) won a marathon match in the No. 1 singles match to clinch the victory.
Drake continues its trip out west Wednesday at Arizona at 12 p.m. CDT.
