SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Drake University men's basketball team opened the San Diego Spring Classic with a 4-2 setback to No. 49 Tulane Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs got wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles as
Vinny Gillespie and
Calum MacGeoch prevaile. Gillespie defeated Hamish Stewart 6-3, 6-3 while MacGeoch subdue Dane Esses 6-2, 6-3.
Drake dropped the doubles point despite the tandem of
Bayo Philips and
Barny Thorold winning at No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
The Bulldogs continue competition at the San Diego Spring Classic Saturday against either No. 38 Harvard or San Diego State.
