Drake University's Vinny Gillespie was named the Summit League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Tuesday, March 5.
 
Gillespie went 3-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles on the weekend against competitors from No. 17 Minnesota and No. 44 Wichita State. He ended the week with a come from behind victory over No. 38 Josip Krstanovic of Minnesota. He improved his overall record to 11-4 in singles and 8-5 in doubles.
 
Drake, which has had a student-athlete win Summit League Athlete of the Week three consecutive weeks with Gillespie's teammate, Tom Hands, claiming the award the previous two weeks play at in-state rival Iowa Friday night at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs end the weekend with a pair of Sunday road matches at Western Michigan and Michigan State.
