The Drake University men's tennis team won a pair of matches in the greater Chicago area Saturday, April 6, afternoon. The Bulldogs opened the day with a 6-1 conference win at Valparaiso, followed by a 4-1 triumph at DePaul.
 
The Bulldogs began the day with a Summit League win at Valparaiso, 6-1, as the Bulldogs cruised early and often in the match. Vinny Gillespie, Tom Hands, Bayo Philips and Ben Clark all earned straight-set wins at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Clark sealed the match with the Bulldogs' fourth point after the team started the match by claiming the doubles' point with wins from the teams of Gillespie and Bayo Philips and Calum MacGeoch and Barny Thorold.
 
After travelling across town, the team opened by taking the doubles point at DePaul as Gillespie/Philips and Hands/Clark won their matches. In singles play at DePaul, Gillespie, MacGeoch and Clark all prevailed to secure the Bulldogs' second win of the day.
 
The Bulldogs close out the regular season next weekend with an April 13 date at Old Dominion.
