MINNEAPOLIS – The Drake University women's tennis team opened play at the 2019 Gopher Invitational Friday, Sept. 20.
Sophia Haleas,
Kelsey Neville and
Megan Webb each won their respective singles matches for Drake while
Kendall Hunt and
Kelsey Neville collected a pair of doubles victories.
Haleas defeated Yasmin Glazbrook of Green Bay 7-5, 6-2, Neville outlasted Thaissa Moreira of UNI 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 and Webb bested Madeline Doherty of UNI of 6-4, 6-2. The three each advance to round two of their respective brackets with semifinal matches scheduled for Saturday.
Hunt and Neville beat Carr/Moreira of UNI 7-6 and then Bowles/Revenig of North Dakota 7-6, 6-1. The duo will play their seminal match Saturday.
Consolation matches will also take place Saturday at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.
