Women's Tennis Treks To Kansas

Bulldogs to face Kansas State and Wichita State this week

The Drake University women's tennis team travels to Kansas for two road matches this week. The Bulldogs head to Manhattan, Kan. to face off against Kansas State Friday at 1 p.m. They continue their set of road matches the following day as the Bulldogs go straight to Wichita to play Wichita State Saturday at 1 p.m.

Drake has split its first two matches of the year. The Bulldgos came out victorious in their last matchup over South Dakota, 4-3. The Bulldogs continue to be undefeated in all doubles competitions this season. Daria Walczak, Ines Stephani and Darinka Stepan also earned wins in their single matches against USD to earn the win.

Kansas State has lost both matches to begin its 2020-21 season. The Wildcats were first topped by Arkansas, followed by a loss at Arizona State. The matchup with the Bulldogs will be their first match at home.

Wichita State is currently 2-2. Most recently, the Shockers lost to Louisville at home.The last time the two two former MVC rivals met was in March of 2019 in Kansas City, Mo. Wichita State left with the victory, 7-0.

Following these two matches, the Bulldogs head back to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center to host Colorado State Feb. 19.
