Enzugusi and Bartlett Named Preseason All-MVC; Men's Soccer Picked Third

Bulldogs begin a spring season Feb. 13 at Evansville

The Drake University men's soccer team was picked to finish third in the Missouri Valley Conference's Spring preseason coaches poll, the league announced this week. Two Bulldogs, Leroy Enzugusi and Lucas Bartlett were also named to the preaseason All-MVC team.

The Bulldogs' roster contains a talent that cannot be matched by any other team in the conference. Senior forward Leroy Enzugusi was the only MVC student-athlete to be selected in the MLS SuperDraft. He was chosen by Nashville SC with the 86th overall pick.

Enzugusi has been named to the All-MVC first team twice. He has led the team in goals each of the past three years. In his career, Enzugusi has scored 21 goals to tie for 10th alll-time in goals at Drake. He is just three goals away from moving into seventh place all-time.

The Bulldogs' impressive attacking prowess will be balanced by a strong back line. The back line will finally be healthy as one of the team's best defenders, Lucas Bartlett, and goalkeeper, Jared Brown, both return from injury. Each of them missed most of the 2019 season. Bartlett was a part of the 2019 All-MVC Tournament Team. Brown was named to the All-MVC Second Team in his junior year.

The Bulldogs open the regular season Feb. 13 at Evansville.
