DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake University football team added four student-athletes in the NCAA's late signing period, head coach
Todd Stepsis announced Thursday, Feb. 4.
The four will join Drake on campus for the 2021 season hail from Arizona, Florida, Iowa and Texas and join 25 student-athletes who signed in December, 2020 during the NCAA's early signing period.
"Our program is thrilled to add these young men to our already strong 2021 recruiting class," Stepsis said. "This group, combined with our group in December, fits who we are – a team that collectively has passion for the game of football, will fight to do their best and to be the best version of themselves academically and athletically, and will love for everything Drake University, the city of Des Moines has to offer. Overall, it's an extremely talented group that will help fill needs across every position group. I am proud of our coaches, staff, university and community for bringing these future bulldogs to the Drake football program."
February 2021 Drake Football Commitments
AJ Britten, TE, 6-4, 220, Andrews, Texas (Andrews)
Britten from Andrews, Texas earned first team all-district honors on defense and offense as a linebacker and tight end each of his final two seasons at Andrews High School. He caught 82 passes for 999 yards in those two seasons.
Finn Claypool, DL, 6-1, 240, Des Moines, Iowa (Dowling Catholic)
Claypool is a local standout who finished his prep career at Dowling Catholic High School in 2020 after playing his first three seasons for Roosevelt High School. He helped the Maroons advance to the Class 4A semifinals in 2020 and the Roughriders earn their first playoff appearance in 26 years in 2019.
Sebastian Felix, DB, 6-0, 190, Sahuarita, Ariz., (Cienega)
Felix from Sahuarita, Ariz. played for Cienega High School. His senior year was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, but he had an outstanding junior year helping Cienega win the 5A Conference championship. That year, Felix, had 54 solo tackles, four interceptions and nine pass breakups helping him earn second team all-conference honors.
Stenton Quaye, DL, 6-2, 220, Boynton Beach, Fla. (The Kings Academy)
Quaye from Boynton Beach, Fla. played defensive end and linebacker for The Kings Academy. He collected 10 tackles, including two for loss in the team's second game of the 2020 season.
