DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Missouri Valley Conference action with a 3-1 win over Bradley Sunday afternoon at the Knapp Center.
The win improved Drake to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league action with set scores of 25-11, 25-18, 16-25, 25-17.
"This was a good conference win for our team to improve to 3-0 in the MVC," said Drake head coach
Darrin McBroom. "It was a good effort against a strong Bradley team and we know that tomorrow will be even tougher."
Drake was led by 18 kills from both senior
Emily Plock and sophomore
Haley Bush as both hit above .260 to propel the Bulldogs. Bush also added 11 digs for the double-double as Drake's defense held Bradley, 1-2, to just .091 hitting.
That defensive effort was also keyed by a season-high 29 digs from
Kylee Macke and five blocks from
Gillian Gergen.
Setter
Caitlyn Smith also added 17 digs while registering 37 assists for her fifth double-double in six matches this season.
Bradley was led by 17 kills and 25 digs from Hannah Thompson while Kora Kauling added 10 kills.
The two teams conclude their two-match series Monday evening at 5 p.m. in the Knapp Center.
