Adam Fogg shattered his school record in finishing fourth in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, Ark.
Fogg finished in a blazing 3:57.32 and was just edged out of third place in the race's final strides. His fourth-place finish earns him first-team All-America honors and is the highest finish by a Bulldog at the NCAA Indoor Championship since Kevin Little finished fourth in the 200 meters in 1990.
Fogg ran with the leaders for much of the race until Oregon's Cole Hocker and Alabama's Eliud Kipsang began to distance themselves from the field. Hocker won the race in a meet record of 3:53.71, followed by Kipsang in 3:55.93. Mississippi's Waleed Suliman nosed out Fogg in 3:57.26.
The All-America performance caps a historic season for the Brisbane, Australia native. Earlier this season, he became the first Bulldog to break the 4-minute mark in the mile with his then-school record of 3:59.03. Saturday's performance is his third sub-4-minute mile of the season. He was also an MVC Champion in the 3,000 meters and most recently earned runner-up honors at the MVC Cross Country Championship.
He is Drake's first indoor All-American since 2013 and first in a distance race since 2000.
