Liza Petushkova and
Daria Walczak of the Drake University women's tennis team each collected a pair of Missouri Valley Conference awards. Petushkova and Walczak were each selected to the MVC All-Select Team in recognition for their play on the court. Later, the pair were tabbed to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team for their outstanding work in the classroom.
Petushkova and Walczak helped Drake win its ninth ever MVC title on April 25 when the Bulldogs defeated Missouri Stat, 4-0, in the championship match of the 2021 MVC Championship. The victory secured Drake's third all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament where it will face Texas A&M on Friday in the opening round. This is the second time Petushkova is on the MVC All-Select Team after being picked in 2018-19. It is Walczak's first-ever All-MVC honor.
Petushkova, is a senior majoring in accounting & finance who holds a 3.73 grade point average. Walczak is a junior majoring in actuarial science who owns a 3.94 GPA. Petushkova was named to the 2020 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team while this is the first MVC Scholar-Athlete honor for Walczak.
