Despite a 20-kill night from Drake's
Haley Bush, Bradley defeated the Drake University volleyball team, 3-1, Saturday night at the Knapp Center.
Bush, the MVC Player of the Year, registered her 20 kills on 65 attempts but couldn't slow down the Braves who took the first two sets, 25-23 and 26-24. Drake rallied back for a 25-22 win in the third set before Bradley rebounded to take the fourth set, 25-22, and the match.
In addition to Bush's night,
Emily Plock added 15 kills for Drake (6-4, 1-1 MVC) while
Ashlynn Kuhn, the MVC Freshman of the Week, had 10 kills and a team-high seven blocks. Setter
Maddie Holt also added four blocks at the net along with her 24 assists.
Jada Wills posted a team-high 18 digs.
Bradley was able to hit .278 as a team with three Braves registering double-figure kills as Karagan Coggin and Hannah Thompson each having 15 kills.
During the third-set win to extend the match, the Bulldogs hit .354 with
Ashlynn Kuhn registering five kills on six attempts to keep Drake's comeback hopes alive. However, Bradley (5-8, 1-1 MVC) stormed back behind six kills from Coggin to take the fourth set and match.
Drake travels to in-state rival UNI for its next contest, Friday, Oct. 1 for a 7 p.m. contest in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
