DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake University men's basketball team has signed transfer Sardaar Calhoun, head coach 
Darian DeVries announced on Tuesday, Jan. 25. 
"We are thrilled to welcome Sardaar to our Bulldog family," DeVries said. "He's a very gifted offensive player that has a perfect combination of size, skill and athleticism. He will be a terrific fit in our system and locker room." 
A 6'6" guard/forward out of Tappahannock, Va., Calhoun was a member of the Texas Tech men's basketball team to begin the 2021-22 season and appeared in eight games. Calhoun appeared in 25 games with Florida State during the 2020-21 campaign averaging 5.3 points per game and shot behind the 3-point line at a 39.7 percent clip. 
"I can't wait to join a brotherhood for my last year of college," Calhoun said. "More importantly, I'm excited to call Drake University home."
Before arriving in Tallahassee, Calhoun played for two seasons at Missouri-West Plains and averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game over a 59 game span. He set Missouri-West Plains records for points scored in a single game (48) and career scoring average (18.6 points per game) while finishing second in school history in total points scored (1,075), career 3-point field goals made (183) and career 3-point field goal percentage (44.3 percent). 
Calhoun will begin competing for the Bulldogs during the 2022-23 season.
