LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – Kristen Giles was at the top of the leaderboard claiming medalist honors at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational hosted by the Merit Club (Par 72) on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Drake women's golf wrapped play in fourth place as a team (316-306-315-937), while host Loyola (309-303-306-918) won its own tournament.
"I was very proud of Kristen for finishing off her round today with a win," head coach
Steve Smith said. "She was able to overcome some difficult pins and wind to grab her first win of the season."
Giles (78-69-78-225) fired a 78 after a career-best 69 in the second round to earn medalist honors by one stroke. Giles concluded with nine birdies and two eagles during the event as she was the only player to record an eagle.
Rylee Heryford (78-79-79-236) was consistent throughout the entire tournament to finish in a tie for 13
th place.
Amber Henson (80-80-81-241) also played with consistency while
Aayushi Sarkar (85-78-77-241) improved during each round.
Erika Holmberg (80-82-88-250) rounded out the Bulldog lineup while
Gracie Tribolet (86-83-86-255) competed as an individual.
Drake women's golf will now gear up for its last fall event, the Ozarks National Invitational Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
