PEORIA, Ill. -- The Drake University cross country teams continued to set new personal bests at the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 14. Drake women's country finished just outside the top-10 in the team standings in 11
th out of 37 teams.
"This race comes on the heels of a hard week of practice," head coach
Jay Koloseus said. "Coach
Anna Bearss and I are pleased as we head into fall break with these results on what was not our best day."
In the women's 6K,
Brooke Mullins (20:29.5) improved upon her previous personal record of 20:33.3 for ninth place.
Tyla Lumley also set another PR for a time of 21:14.5 to come in 36
th place.
Emilie Meyer logged her personal best 6K time of 21:37.9, a dramatic improvement from her last race at the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 30.
Barbara Vrhovac also improved with her fastest time to date of 22:04.1.
Katherine Lawson wasn't very far behind with a time of 22:38.6.
The next two Bulldogs to cross the finish line were
Anna Knueve (23:17.4) and
Meghan Coulter (24:17.7).
Lauren Low (24:28.9) earned her personal record while
Tessa Laska (24:44.1) competed in her first collegiate cross country meet.
On the men's side,
Aziz Jdai had a stomach bug and did not finish.
Pur Biel broke the 25-minute barrier for his personal best time of 24:43.7.
Seth Simonson (25:32.2) crossed the finish line before
Jack Burns (25:46) set a new personal record.
Brendan Cain (26:13.8) and
Aidan Simon (27:29.5) navigated the course as
Vasant Fong recorded his career best time of 27:23.4.
Drake cross country will now prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in two weeks on Friday, Oct. 28, hosted by Indiana State.
