ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Drake men's and women's cross country programs swept the Missouri Valley Conference Runner of the Week awards, the league announced on Wednesday (Oct. 5). Brooke Mullins took home MVC women's cross country Runner of the Week honors while Isaac Basten was recognized as MVC Runner of the Week on the men's side.
 
In the women's 6K, Brooke Mullins took third place out of 236 competitors at the Gans Creek Classic (Gans Creek XC Course in Columbia, Mo.) on Friday, Oct. 1, with a personal best time of 20:33.3. She advanced seven places in the final 1000 meters of the race.
 
In the men's 8K, Isaac Basten finished in seventh place out of 231 competitors at the Gans Creek Classic with a personal best time of 23:50.3. Basten led Drake to a fourth place team finish out of 22 competing teams.
 
Both Drake cross country programs return to action on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Bradley Pink Classic.
