ST. LOUIS – Brooke Mullins, Tyla Lumley and Emilie Meyer of Drake women's cross country were all placed on the Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Wednesday (Nov. 2).
 
Mullins holds a 3.88 grade point average as a management & organizational leadership major. Lumley has a 3.61 GPA while majoring in accounting and Meyer, a business studies major currently has a 3.94 GPA.
 
Mullins finished second at the MVC Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 28 while Lumley and Meyer secured 10^th place and 18^th place respectively.

Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to meet performance standards, as they must finish in the first 20 runners at the conference championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA and be in sophomore standings academically. The conference has chosen to raise the standard cumulative GPA in alignment with College Sports Communicators (formally known as CoSIDA) nomination standards, who has also raised the minimum cumulative GPA from 3.3 previously to 3.5. For top honors, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the top finisher that meets the qualifications for the team.
