The Drake track & field program will compete in Ames, Iowa for the third time this indoor season. The Iowa State Classic Feb. 11-12 is Drake's last meet before the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 26-28.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FRANK SEVIGNE HUSKER INVITATIONAL
Freshman
Centaine Noom-Duckworth has a new personal record of 15.97 meters in the women's weight throw.
In the men's weight throw,
Joey Harkins launched 19.79 meters, which is his season-best.
Ethan Marshall (18.42 meters),
Adam Phillips (18.22 meters),
Anthony Barmes (17.60 meters) and
Austin Jentz (17.14 meters) all set personal bests. Harkins, Marshall and Phillips landed themselves in the top-5 of the Drake men's indoor weight throw record book.
Jaymie O'Connor placed fifth in the finals of the women's 60 hurdles with her best time of the season (8.53).
The Drake women's indoor 200 meter dash top-10 was altered as Oral Roberts transfer
Kayvon Stubbs turned in a time of 24.96 to rank seventh all-time followed closely by
Busiwa Asinga at 24.99 for eighth in indoor program history.
Brooke Mullins won the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.06, which is 10
th best in indoor program history
MVC WEEKLY HONORS
Drake indoor track athletes
Yinka Mary Ajayi and
Isaac Basten both earned Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday (Dec. 14).
Ajayi got off to an incredible start to the season by winning the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 24.38 at the Jimmy Grant Invitational hosted by Iowa on Saturday (Dec. 11). The Offa, Nigeria native was only .02 off from tying her own school record that she set last season.
Basten broke the 4-minute mile barrier with a blazing fast mile time of 3:58.88 at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational.
Adam Fogg earned Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 25).
Fogg set a new school indoor record in the men's 1 mile run with a sub-4 time of 3:56.60. Fogg's time also broke the indoor facility record at Iowa State. The time of 3:56.60 currently ranks sixth fastest in the nation.
