AMES, Iowa – The Drake University track & field team wrapped up competition at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday (Feb. 12) inside the Lied Recreation Athletic Center.
"This weekend was another big step for our program as we prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship later this month," Director of Cross Country & Track & Field
Blake Boldon said. "Our student-athletes are firing on all cylinders. We're all excited about the opportunity to compete with the MVC's best in two weeks."
Freshman
Emilie Meyer cracked the Drake indoor top-10 in the women's 800 meter run with a personal best time of 2:12.41. Fellow freshman
Jack Burns also set a PR in the men's 800 meter run after posting a time of 1:56.36.
A day following setting an Israel national indoor record in the 200 meter dash,
Gal Arad qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash.
In the men's shot put,
Adam Phillips registered 15.74 meters while
Chandler Haight finished 11
th (14.24 meters) in the women's shot put.
Meanwhile in Fayetteville, Ark.,
Isaac Basten was invited to the Tyson Invitational and raced in the mile against elite competition.
The Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Chicago, Ill., Feb. 27-28.
